How do I go back to wearing my hair curly after straightening it for two years?

I have naturally curly hair. Two years ago I got it layered and started using a flat iron, straightening products and curling irons on it. I use very good products so my hair is not super damaged. However, after conistently straightening it for that long, it refuses to go back to curly when I want it to and looks like a fuzzy mess. I occasionally want to wear it curly. How do I get it to look good? How do I go back to wearing my hair curly after straightening it for two years?
I would do some DT's to help with the damage (you must have some at least) and also protein is your friend. :)

Other than that here are some general curly tips:

*Try to find a stylist who knows how to work with curly hair. You can find ratings by region here: http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlsalons

*Don't shampoo every day.

*Comb conditioner through hair in the shower.

*Apply styling products to dripping wet hair. Scrunch or twirl hair to achieve desired shape.

*Use styling products suited for your hair type. Don鈥檛 know yours? http://www.naturallycurly.com/hair-types

*Avoid terrycloth towels; use microfiber or t-shirts instead.

*Air dry or use a diffuser with your blowdryer.

*Don't touch (or brush!) your hair while it drying.

*Once dry scrunch out any crunchy texture.

For specific products for your hair type you might also want to explore the forums at:

There you can find others with the same hair type and try out some of their favorite products. I would recommend something, but I don鈥檛 know your hair type. :)

Lastly, it has made my hair so much better since I started the curly girl method! I used to almost never wear it down (it was a frizz/poof ball), but now I have pretty, shiny curls. ~:) It pretty radical鈥攏o sulfates (shampoo) or silicones鈥攂ut it so great for curly hair. Give it a shot and check it out:

just curl it cuse it will never go back to super curly and scruch it with mouse it will look cute!
It sounds like your hair might be more damaged than you think it is if it 's consistently a ';fuzzy mess'; when you don't style it. Do a moisturizing treatment such as a hot oil or a hair mask, and stop using heating tools on it for awhile! Straightening your hair every day does a lot of damage. Also, on the days when you want to wear it curly, make sure you're using lightweight products designed for curly hair.
i did that same thing, except i damaged my hair so baddd.

just keep buying curling shampoo and conditioner and curling products and scrunch it. keep getting haircuts too it will help.

you can also get damage repair stuff to help get away the fuzzy mess part
When you get out of the shower make sure you use a wide tooth comb to get knots out, be gentle and don't pull hard. Scrunch your hair and use curl shaping products, I use Garnier curl sculpting cream gel, works beautifully. Oh and of course don't dry brush your curls, don't ever use a hair dryer. It ruins my hair. Make sure to get it cut if you have any split ends.
Maybe if you use curlers or tongs for like a week or two, it might go abck, and then you can straighten now and again x
I HV HAD THE SME EXPERIENCE!

WHAT YUU DO IS YUU DO NOT USE HOT OIL TREATMENTS!

fOR A NUMBER OF REASONS

WHEN YUU WASH U WASH UR HAIR CONDITION IT BUT LEAVE SUM IN

WHEN YUU COME OUT DNT RUB YUR HAIR WITH THE TOWEL JUS SQUEEZE TO STOP FRIZZINESS..UR HAIR NEEDS THE MOISTURE..

WHEN YUR HAIR IS AIR DRIED HALF WAY THRU ADD SOME VATIKA HAIR OILL..ITS NON GREASY AND ITS FAB!

PUT UR HAIR INTO FAIR SIZED PLAITS EITHER LEAVE THEM IN OR SLEEP ON THEM..TAKE THEM OUT AFTERWARDS AND YUU HV BEAUTIFUL WAVES..DO NOT BRUSH JUS COMB THRU WITH FINGERS!

ALSO..ONCE A WEEK LOAD UR AHIR WITH VATIKA OIL SO ITS GREASY AND LEAVE IN ALL DAY AND THEN WASH IT OUT..ITS GD STUFF

HOPE I HELPED!
Wow, sounds like you have really damaged your hair from using too much heat. Stop using heat and start deep conditioning weekly to see if your hair starts gaining elasticity after a few months. Elasticity is your hair's ability to bounce back into it's natural curl or wave pattern.

If your hair doesn't revert after several months of showing it major TLC, and NOT using heat, then it's possible the damage is permanent, which means you'll have to cut off the damage parts. If this is so, then you can do it little by little over a span of months until you have a head full of healthy, curly hair.
