Great question!

Frizz鈥攚hich is caused by a lack of moisture and protein, high dew point, overloading on products, or too much damage鈥攃an take over, causing your potentially luscious locks to take on a life of their own.

Hair contains both positive and negative charges, so when you wash your hair too much, it removes the negative charge and leaves two positive charges. Just like two positive magnets, overly positive-charged hair rebels, causing curls to become big and unmanageable.

The best way to keep your curls/kinks/coils under control? Wash your hair every three, seven or fourteen days, and make sure it's hydrated so curls don't become too frizzy or too big.

Lastly, thick conditioners are best for those with course, kinky, or damaged hair because they deposit just the right amount of moisture, so hair feels soft yet manageable. These hair types tend to be devoid of much-needed moisture since the hair cuticle becomes porous and weathered.

So what ingredients should you use in your quest for perfect softness? Look for natural oils like that of avocado, aloe vera, ceramides, proteins (combined with oil or lipids since protein alone can be too drying), dimethicone, fatty alcohols, amino acids, and vitamins E and B5 (panthenol). These all contribute to shiny, hydrated hair.

Meanwhile, shampoos and conditioners that promise to add body or volume can counteract softness. How can i keep my hair from frizzing after i wash it?
are you relaxed or natural? either way what do you put on your hair after you wash it. also how are you conditioning your hair? i have natural hair, and i have learned that conditioner is your best friend lol. only shampoo your hair once and condition it twice, the second time leave it on for a few minutes (i like to shampoo when i first get in the shower and leave the conditioner on while i wash my body and rinse my hair last). also when you rinse the conditioner out for the last time turn the water to cool instead of hot. when you get out, apply some type of leave in conditioner and a little oil (olive/almond/coconut etc), i smoothe the oil on last and comb thru with a wide tooth comb or a denman brush and then i let it air dry. my hair is always white looking while it dries bc there is still product on it. this makes my hair soft and helps it to lay down. the next day i will mist it with water and apply a little clear alcohol free gel to make it curl up and make the edges stay down. my hair is always frizz free unless i start putting my hands in it. you cant touch it while its drying lol
