How much does the prevalence of curly hair vary throughout Europe?

I have heard many things about curly hair being associated with African ancestry. Now, there is genetic evidence of varying amounts of DNA from African migrations into Europe, or contact with Phoenicians and the like, in certain regions, but I'm not sure how much to believe it. I want to know if the prevalence of curly hair matches up with the appropriate regions. Is curly hair significantly more common around the Mediterranean and the Balkans than elsewhere in Europe? How much does the prevalence of curly hair vary throughout Europe?
Curly hair is found among all Europeans.

EVEN some scandinavians have got curly hair.

it has nothing to do with ';africans'; or ';races';. It's just HUMAN!How much does the prevalence of curly hair vary throughout Europe?
Curly hair is caused by a gene, which is not related to race. In Europe it is common in white redheads, young children, the Welsh (think Tom Jones),some Irish, some Mediterranean peoples. The Welsh and Irish are related in prehistoric times to Iberian peoples hence the connection between them and the Med..

Places like Wales and ireland actually have some of the lowest rates of any non-European admixture in their dna in all of Europe (less than half a percent) so no, it's not connected to any mixed ancestry.

technically, caucasians are said to have wavy hair rather than straight btw.
There are higher rates in the UK especially in Ireland, and I think it may be due to the activity of the Barbary Pirates from Morocco and Algeria many centuries ago.

They took captives as slaves from along the Iberian Coast, from Spain to Ireland and West of Britain.

Maybe look it up on wikipedia?

I know that in Algeria, there is a village where the people there are unusually fair. Maybe from the Barbary slave trade.
In Ireland and Britain it's common with blonds and red heads when young but disappears with age. It is a sign of beauty there. Many roman statues have semi curly hair and was brought there by the romans. It could have some african or middle eastern origin too but it is so remote now 2000 years later. Try this site it will tell u how white you are and where. It's awesome. https://www.23andme.com/
The evidence suggests that our species of homo sapiens (there used to be more than one) originated in Africa. So arguably it can show up anywhere. Some lines have maintained the gene while others have maintained other genes (ie- far east asians/ native americans, which may have been some of the first to migrate out of Africa)
1st of all, pretty much all evidence shows that homo sapiens came from Africa. There is not much question about that. We left in various waves, so some are closer genetically than others.
i dunno but i have a head of awesomely curly hair and i'm half white half black!
